Mobility Scoring

Foot health and good mobility are essential in optimising productivity with lame cows presenting a 10% decrease in milk production as well as effects on fertility and longevity. With traditional lameness detection methods (e.g. watching cows as they enter the parlour or routine bulling checks) only detecting 25% of lameness cases, the use of mobility scoring a method developed by AHDB allows cows to be categorised according to the degree of impaired mobility thus allowing identification of individuals for treatment or trimming as well as monitoring long term herd mobility.

M & J Hoofcare also offer a consultancy service. By using our knowledge, experience and software, we can help you identify areas within your system that could be contributing to cattle lameness

Digital Cloud Based Recording System

Herd Report Summary

As well as providing reports after each trimming sessions the online cloud based system allows detailed and historical reports to be created in a clear and visually represented manner. This allows identification of the main diseases affected your individual herd thus allowing a preventative measures to be implemented. This information can also be shared with other professionals (i.e. vets, nutritionist) if required.

Individual Cow Reports

During the feet trimming session each cow is electrically recored via a tablet with disease and subsequent treatment being recorded based on it severity.

Summary Report

On completion of the trimming session a full visual report of all cows trimmed is produced. Once printed via the farms online account this can be filed and used for farm assurance evidence.
